Our first meal

...after disembarking in Hong Kong was at Tsui Wah Restaurant, conveniently up the block from Nathan Hotel, where we were staying the night. Menu offerings here included local cuisine such as sandwiches, noodle selections, including spaghetti and macaroni, and rice plates.

The macaroni at Tsui Wah makes for a nice, plain dish for the weary traveller, and the egg noodles are fresh and tasty. Most noteworthy, however, were the wontons. Here, wontons are no skimpy affairs containing minced shrimp mixed with ground beef; here, each wonton is wrapped with the thinnest skin that can contain an entire shrimp. And the Hoi Nam Chicken rice plate features a chicken leg and tasty oiled rice, accompanied by vegetables and a clear broth - all of which, when blended, are guaranteed to please the palate.

And if, at first, $22 for a bowl of noodles or $52 for a plate of angel hair pasta alarms you (as it did me), just remember the conversion rate!
